Tooting Sector Live Facial Recognition Operation |
||
|
On Monday 20 July 2026, officers from all Tooting Sector Neighbourhood Teams came together to support a Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation outside Tooting Broadway Station.
The operation delivered significant results, with five arrests made for a range of offences, including failing to appear at court, burglary, and drug-related offences.
In addition to these arrests, officers gathered and submitted valuable intelligence, creating numerous intelligence reports that will assist colleagues across the Metropolitan Police Service in ongoing investigations and policing activity.
The operation also provided an opportunity to address road safety and traffic-related offending. Officers reported several motorists for offences including using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seatbelt, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a driving licence. A vehicle was also seized for having no insurance.
Overall, the operation was a clear success in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across the Tooting sector. Tooting Broadway is a key transport hub and a recognised crime hotspot within the area, with criminality often impacting neighbouring wards. By proactively targeting wanted offenders and gathering intelligence, officers helped make the area safer for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. | ||
